About Our Intumescent Retardant Paint and Resistant Coatings
Firefree coatings have passed the fire industry’s most comprehensive and stringent tests for fire resistance on a wide variety of materials including wood, sheetrock (drywall), lath and plaster, concrete/masonry, gypsum, iberglass, stucco, PVC/plastics, Galvanized steel, metal B decking, sheet metal, aluminum, Polyurethane foam and advanced materials such as FRP/GRP, Carbon fiber, etc. Our products are tested and validated at accredited third-party International Accreditation Service (IAS), ICC-ES, FM Approvals fire testing laboratories and are rigorously tested, certified and listed to meet or exceed fire test standards such as ASTM E119, ASTM E1354, ASTM E84, FM 4470 (NFPA 276), ASTM E662, FM 4975, etc.. setting the highest standards in fire protection.
Additionally, our products are non-toxic, have low VOC contents/emissions, and do not produce dangerous outgassing that would occur during a fire, thus giving occupants extra time to evacuate a building safely and limiting property damages. It is important to note that while our coatings Firefree 88® (“Ff88®”) and Firefree Class A (“FfA”) can significantly improve fire safety, they should be used as part of a comprehensive fire prevention plan that includes smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and emergency exits. Our products, Ff88 and FfA, are designed to provide a high level of fire protection, often exceeding the performance of alternative fire retardant products.
Ff88 is our premier product tested to full-scale fire tests on loaded wood assemblies and the first FM Approved product tested to FM 4470 to improve wood roof decks constructions materials from class 2 to class 1. It is a non-toxic, water-based, intumescent paint that can be applied to various materials, including gypsum board, plaster, lath, concrete, metal, pressed embossed tin, polyurethane foam, foam composite panels, and wood. FfA is a Class A coating rated by ASTM E84 for flame spread & smoke development.
